SPs, RAB directed to stop arson attack: Close-door meet with minister

Joynal Abedin Khan :The government has directed the law enforcing agencies to take stringent measures to stop the ongoing arson attack and violence during the blockade progrmme of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.The directives came at a closed-door meeting between the State Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and top officials of law enforcement agencies in the city on Tuesday. The Superintendents of Police [SPs] of all districts, senior officials of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and other departments took part in the meeting.The meeting was held on the occasion marking the inauguration programme of the Police Week-2015 at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital when the minister was present as the chair.  The state minister directed the lawmen to take effective steps to make the country free from terrorist attacks.He also asked the law officials to show ‘zero tolerance’ against anarchists and arsonists, sources said. When contacted, State Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told the New Nation yesterday that he directed the SPs from all districts and other police officials to remain alert against any subversive activities in the name of movement. “The police officials also requested the government to increase their risk allowance and other benefits for betterment of their service. We also ensured them to increase facilities considering the job as the safeguard to the countrymen,” the minister said.  Home Secretary Mozammel Haque Khan, Inspector General of Police [IGP] AKM Shahidul Haque, Dhaka Metropolitan Police [DMP] Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mian and high officials of police and RAB, among others, were present at the meeting.
