Shooters Suraiya, Sharmin fail to meet expectation

Shooter Suraiya Akter finished her 14th position among the 20 participants scoring 604.3 points in the women’s 50m rifles prone event of the ongoing Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Belmont Shooting Center in Brisbane, Australia on Thursday.
Another shooter Sharmin Shilpa also failed to meet the expectation as she scored 599.2 points finishing 17th position at the same event.
Martina Lindse of Singapore won gold in this event setting the new record scoring 621.0 points while Tejoshini Srabonto of India bagged silver scoring 618.9 points.
Seonide Mesinto of Scotland secured bronze medal in this event scoring 614.1 points.
Shooters Suraiya Akter and Sharmin Shilpa will compete in 50m rifles three position tomorrow (Friday).
Earlier, ace shooter Abdullah Hel Baki and Shakil Ahmed won silver medal in the 10m air rifles while 22-year promising shooter Shakil Ahmed secured silver in 50m pistol event.
Meanwhile, wrestler Amzad Ali beat Kiribati’s Titu Lowabo in the first match but he failed to move in the next round as he lost to Nigerian rival Asiscot Abiminifag in his second match.
