Eid Jamaat is not being held at historical Sholakia ground of Kishoreganj again. District Administration in Kishoreganj said that the government has decided not to hold Eid Jamaat on account of corona.
In 2019, the largest Eid Jamaat was held at sholakia ground in Kishoreganj town.
Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam is also the President of Sholakia Eidgah Field Committee. On Tuesday he told the New Nation there are government instructions to avoid large gatherings in open spaces in the Corona situation. In this situation, according to the decision of the Ministry of Religion, there will not be no large congregation for Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in Sholakia this time.
Instead, multiple Eid-Jamaat will be held in different mosques of Kishoreganj municipalities area ,13 upazilas in the district while maintaining social distance and hygiene.
Later, Eid Jamaat was not held at this historic ground due to the Corona epidemic last year.
In 1828, a quarter of a million devotees prayed together in the Eid Jamaat at Sholakia ground.
