The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday detained Mirza Saifur Rahman, ship surveyor of the Department of Shipping, while taking bribe. The ACC’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said, a team of the anti-graft watchdog conducted a drive at his office and caught Saifur red-handed while taking Tk 2 lakh as bribe from a person for approving a ship survey work. The ACC team went to Saifur’s office after receiving a complaint against him.
According to the ACC, Saifur claimed bribe
of taka. 3 lakh in the name of a ship survey and fitness test of Khadijatul Kobra. He was arrested by the authorities of the ship at Motijheel when he was given two lakh Tk. 2. Saifur was taken to the ACC office after his arrest. ACC’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told to The New Nation that, a case was filed against Mirza Saifur Rahman.
