UNB, Bogra :
A schoolboy was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbour over a silly matter at Daripara village of Gabtoli upazila in the district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 14, a class eight student of Kolakopa Atopjan High School and son of Futu Mollah of the village.
Locals said a dispute ensued between the two families on Sunday afternoon after Minarul broke a bamboo plant of his neighbour Salam’s garden.Being angered for breaking the plant, Salam’s father Futu Mollah slapped Minarul.
Following the incident, Minarul’s father Mostafizar called in Salam after Esha prayers and beat him up severely, leaving him critically injured.
Salam was admitted to Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.
Deceased’s elder brother Liton Molla filed a case with the police station accusing eight people.
Police, meanwhile, arrested four people-Mostafizar Pramanik and his wife Rani Begum, Khuki Begum and Lilufar Begum of the same village in this connection, said Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Gabtoli Model Police Station.
The arrestees are now in jail, he added.
