Shibirman gets 10-yr jail term for keeping arms

A court here on Tuesday sentenced an Islami Chhatra Shibir man to 10 years’ imprisonment in a case filed for possessing arms. The convict is Sohanur Rahman Sohan, a Shibir activist and son of Abdul Aziz of Bakhtpur in Fatikchhari upazila of the district.
Court sources said police arrested Sohan along with a gun from the city’s Panchlaish area on April 13, 2001. A case was filed
against him on the day. However, he was released from jail on bail and is now on the run.
After examining the records and witnesses, Second Joint Metropolitan Sessions’ Judge AM Julfikar Hayat pronounced the verdict.
