Sheikh Russel Fencing concludes

Sheikh Russel First National Junior and Cadet Fencing Competition came to an end at the Shaheed Suhrawardi National Indoor Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Tuesday night. Bangladesh Fencing Association arranged the fencing competition.
A total of 150 fencers (90 male & 60 female) from 15 teams took part in the Epee, Savor and Foil divisions for 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 24 bronze medals.
Dhaka District team emerged the champions, while Jamalpur District team became runners-up and Gazipur District finished third.
Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, MP, distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest on the concluding day, while Professor Md Obaidur Rahman Chan and Additional Secretary of Labour and Employment Ministry Masud Karim were present as special guests.
AKM Mozammel Haque gave thanks to the Bangladesh Fencing Federation to arrange the fencing meet marking the golden jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh and named the competition on behalf of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
