Sheikh Russel face Bashundhara Kings in Independence Cup final today

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will take on new powerhouse Bashundhara Kings in the grand final of the Independence Cup football scheduled to be held today (Wednesday) at country’s premier venue Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Ahead of the final, both the teams expressed their high hope to finish the domestic calendar with a happy note by winning the trophy. State-owned Bangladesh Television will telecast live stream while Bangladesh Betar will provide live commentary of the high voltage final that kicks off at 4.30 pm.
Addressing at a pre match press conference held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation Bhaban Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra coach AKM Saiful Bari Titu termed his team as a favorite one in the final. He said if his boys play well and gives their best in the final, the results will go in favor of them.
Sheikh Russel KC captain Ashraful Islam Rana was also confident about winning the tournament title. He said they want to become champions by playing good football in the final.
Bashundhara Kings coach Oscar Wilian Bruzon Barreras said it is the second time his team is able to reach final in this session after the Federation Cup and they want to get rid of the grief of defeat in Federation Cup final and emerge as champions by playing the best football in tomorrow’s final.
Bangladesh Football Federation general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag, among others, were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra moved to the final in the tournament beating Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals in the first semi-final while Bashudhora Kings booked the place of final as they beat Abahani Limited by 7-6 goals in sudden death of the match in the keenly contested second semis.
