Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita hits Ekushey stall

A number of books written by the ministers, including the prime minister, are on sale at the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela this year. Of them, ‘Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita’ a commemorative book written by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received tremendous response from buyers.
‘Gangchil’ written by Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, ‘Bashobasher Upajukto Bangladesh Chai and Bangladesher Obhyuday’ by Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith are also being sold at the Boi Mela, and the books of Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon arrived at the Boi Mela are also on sales at the Boi Mela.
More than one thousand copies of the book ‘Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita’ had already been sold in last seven days, sources said. The book was first published in Kolkata Book Fair in the year 1999. Agami Prokashoni has published the book this year with due permission from the author. Those of the young generation, who want to learn decisively about the history of Bangladesh and the Father of the Nation, are showing their interest in the said book, said Suman Gazi, Sales Manager of Agami Prokashoni.
The author started the book by commemorating her childhood memories in the village and illustrated natural beauties surrounding it.
Sheikh Hasina guided the War of Independence in 1971. However, the critics said that the book would play an important rule to remove the confusion and ambiguity centering the War of Liberation and the country’s independence.
At least one dozen new and old books of Sheikh Hasina have good sales at the Boi Mela. These are Amra Janogoner Kotha Bolte Eshechi, Bangladeshe Swairatonter Jonmo, Ora Tokai Keno, Sohena Manobotar Obomanona, Bipoanno Ganotantro Lanchhito Manobota, Daridro Durikoran: Kichhu Chinta Vabna, Democracy in Distress: Remand Humanity, People and Democracy, Living in the Tears and Democracy Poverty Elimination and Peace.
Mehbah Uddin Ahmed, owner of Ahmad Prokashoni, told The New Nation that the book would act as an important reference to unearth the true history of Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the farewell tone is ringing at Amar Ekushey Boi Mela, whcih will end in the night of February 28.
The publishers were seen busy in their respective book stalls to meet crowd’s demands for book.
On the other hand, 134 new books arrived on Thursday, the 26th day. Seven cover of the new books were unveiled on the Nazrul Mancha.
Of the new books; 16 are storybooks, 14 novels, 13 essay book, 40 poems, three on research, eight on children literature, three on biography, three on science, three on travel, two on history, one on politics, one on religion, and 27 books on other subjects.

A discussion titled “Goto Bochore Bangladesher Kobita” was held in the main podium of the Bangla Academy in the afternoon.
Poet Asad Chowdhury presided over the discussion while Professor Rafiqullah Khan presented the keynote paper.
Poet Md Nurul Huda, Dr Anik Mahmud and Rezaul Stalin discussed the programme.
A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening. Amio Baul, Khagendranath Sarker, Babu Sarker, Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan, Rahima Khatun, Palabi Sarker Maloti, Md Milon, Sudhir Mondal, Bimol Baul, Zakir Jafran and Abdul Alim rendered songs in the programme.
The discussion on “Journalist Santosh Gupta” will be held in the main podium of the Bangla Academy today (Friday).
Professor Sakhawat Ali Khan will preside over the discussion while Professor Syed Mohammad Shahed will present a keynote paper. Journalist Abed Khan, Moniruzzaman and Hasan Hafiz will take part at the programme.
