Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup begins on October 20 at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong. Meanwhile, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) approved the gala football meet. Chittagong Abahani Limited will host the entertaining football tournament.
Regarding this ensuing football tournament, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Wednesday.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Football Federation Badal Roy, Member Secretary of the Organizing Committee of Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Shamsul Haque,MP, President of Chittagong Abahani Limited MA Latif, MP, Chief Coordinator of the Tournament Committee Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin were present at the conference, among others.
Shamsul Haque Chowdhury said, ” Eight teams from different countries will participate in the football competition. They are: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Dhaka Abahani Limited, Chittagong Abahani Limted, Mohammedan Sporting Club (India), Kingfisher East Bengal Club (India), De Spinghar Bazan Club (Afghanistan), Karachi Electric Football Club (Pakistan) and Solid FC (Sri Lanka).”
Chowdhury said, ” The champions will be awarded US dollars 25,000 while the runners-up will be given US dollars 10,000. Each participating teams will get Tk 5,00,000 as participation fee.”
He said, ” An opening ceremony will be held at the big bowl on October 17.”
Badal Roy said, ” This is for the first time an international football tournament will be held in Chittagong.”
Tarafder Md Ruhul Amin said, ” We want to do something new. We want to attract the spectators to watch football again at the galleries.”
The gala extravaganza will be concluded on October 30.
