Coming from behind, holders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi made a flying start in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League outplaying Farashganj Sporting Club by 4-1 goals in the inaugural match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Tuesday.
In the day’s match, Gambian attacking midfielder Landing Darobe struck twice, Haitian forward Wedson Anselme and national skipper cum midfielder Mamunul Islam scored one each for the winners while Nigerian forward Peter Akinyele netted the lone goal for Farashganj SC.
Farashganj SC took lead against the run of the play in the 10th minute when Nigerian forward Peter Akinyele was brought down by Jamal defender Keshto Kumar inside the danger zone and referee Jalaluddin blew his whistle for a penalty.
Nigerian Peter Akinyele did no mistake to convert spot kick (1-0).
Haitian forward Wedson Anselme equalized margin for Sheikh Jamal in the 15th minute by a placing shot, off a Yamin Maunna cross, beating Farashganj goalie Sujan Chowdhury (1-1).
Two minutes after the breather, Sheikh Jamal took the lead when their Gambian attacking midfielder Landing Darobe found the net by a curving shot, utilizing a free kick of his team mate (2-1).
Midfielder Mamunul Islam scored the 3rd goals for Sheikh Jamal in the 75th minute by a cracking left footer from about 25 yards, off a Wedson pass
(3-1).
In the injury time, Landing Darboe sealed the fate of the match adding one more goal by his solo effort (4-1).
