Bangladesh Premier League champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club made a good start in the KFC Independence Cup Football beating Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 2-0 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Enamul put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 9th minute by a placing shot off a Landing Darboe square pass (1-0).
Sheikh Jamal doubled the margin in the 16th minute as their Haitian forward Wedson Enselme found the net beating Mohammedan goalie Nehal by placing a shot after receiving a through pass from Emeka Darlington (2-0)
Mohammedan SC managed a good chance to reduce the margin in the 19th minute but Cameroonian defender Poueme Landry’s header was brilliantly cleared by Jamal defender Anisul Alam Sweet from the goal line.
Sheikh Jamal came close to score third goal in the 37th minute, but Mohammedan goalie Nehal saved his castle diving to his right, foiling a header of Emeka Darlington, off a Wetson cross.
Mohammedan spoiled a good chance in the very first minute in the second half. Guinean forward Ismail Bangoura sent a cross in the middle of the box from right flank, but Masud Rana failed touch the ball despite of an open net.
