Holders Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club further consolidated their position in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League beating their nearest rivals Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-1 goals at Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Sunday.
With the day’s feat, Sheikh Jamal DC not only returned to the winning run after two successive draw, but also maintained their top slot comfortably securing 23 points from 9 matches while Muktijoddha SKC remained at their previous credit of 16 points, also playing 9 matches.
In the day’s vital match, Sheikh Jamal took the lead in the very 2nd minute when their Nigerian forward Emeka Darlington, standing unmarked, found the net by a good header, off a curved cross of Linkon (1-0).
But, their lead was very short-lived as Muktijoddha SKC leveled the margin just three minutes later, following a mistake of Sheikh Jamal goalie Mazharul Islam Himel. Himel failed to receive a back pass of defender Nasiruddin and the ball entered to net slipping his legs (1-1).

Sheikh Jamal DC was reduced to 10 men as their midfielder Monaem Khan Raju got marching order in the 51st minute after receiving double yellows in the match.
