Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the ‘lighthouse’ of humanity.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given shelter to the Rohingya people who were forcibly displaced from Myanmar… She is the lighthouse of humanity,” Quader said while addressing a reception accorded to Sheikh Hasina at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here.
Awami League and its associate bodies organized the mass reception to party chief Sheikh Hasina for placing a five-point proposal to resolve the Rohingya crisis in 72nd United Nations General Assembly and mustering the support of the global leaders on this issue.
Quader said, “Thousands of Rohingya people have got shelter and new life only for our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina…She took a right decision in the right time.”
“You have returned home after raising a five-point proposal before the world body… I congratulate you,” he said, referring to the Prime Minister’s return after a three-week visit to the US and the UK.
He said Sheikh Hasina is the mother of humanity. All in the country are hailing the Prime Minister for her outstanding contribution to the ongoing tremendous development of the country.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9.25 am after attending the 72nd sessions of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
On her return, AL and 14-party leaders, intellectuals, journalist leaders, sports men and representatives of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Bangla Academy, Dhaka University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and civil society greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by presenting flower bouquets.
