Shawon bowls CCS to a win over Victoria SC in DPL

A devastating bowling by left arm-spinner Saleh Ahmed Shawon saw Cricket Coaching School (CCS) record an impressive 53-run victory over Victoria Sporting Club in the rain-hit Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Wednesday at Khan Shaheb Oslman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
However afternoon downpour forced the match decided on D/ L method.
Favored by coin, CSS rode on openers Pinak Ghosh (42) and Rajin Saleh’s (42) 84-run opening stand to post a competitive total of 259 for all in 49.4 overs.
After the departure of opener duo, first down Saif Hasan (78) again pairing with Salman Hossain (41) contributed 98 runs for the third wicket to steer CCS to cross over 200 runs land mark.
Sri Lankan recruit PC de Silva and Kamrul Hasan Rabbi were the pick of Victoria’s bowlers as they grabbed four wickets conceding 47 and 54 runs respectively. They were well supported by Suhrawadi Shuvo who claimed two wickets giving away 54 runs.
Chasing a revised winning target of 253 from 35 overs, Victoria SC found the target too stiff losing wickets at regular intervals and finally to dismissed at 199 in 31.1 overs.
Victoria’s skipper Nadif Chowdhury top scored with a well played knock of 50 runs followed by Abdul Mazid (39) and Dolar Mahmud (29). Shawon with his crafty left arm spin weaved his to claim four Victorians scalps giving away only 15 runs.
He was well supported by Nasum Hossain who chipped in with two wickets conceding 36 runs.
Shawon of CCS was adjudged the player of the match for his brilliant bowling.
