Sharif lauds BD’s success

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina here on Wednesday highly appreciated Bangladesh’s tremendous success in containing terrorism.
Nawaz Sharif and Sheikh Hasina met at Crown Plaza Kathmandu – Soaltee – on the sidelines of the 18th Saarc Summit.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali briefed reporters after the meeting. He said the Pakistani Prime Minister also said his country has also become a bit successful in containing terrorism in recent times.
Both the leaders exchanged their experiences in improving socio-economic condition of their respective countries.
The Foreign Minister said Sheikh Hasina elaborately described Bangladesh’s success in solar energy sector and Nawaz Sharif expressed his interest to send a team to Bangladesh for gathering information from Bangladesh regarding solar energy.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina had meetings with her Nepalese counterpart Sushil Koirala and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the same venue.
During the meeting with Sushil Koirala, Mahmood Ali said, Hasina renewed Bangladesh’s interest to import power from Nepal investing in the hydroelectric projects as the Himalayan country has immense potentials in hydroelectricity. Both the Prime Ministers discussed the regional connectivity and the expansion of trade and business.
Hasina also expressed her interest to export pharmaceuticals, readymade garment, leather products, ceramics, vegetables and agro-products to Nepal.
During the meeting with Afghan President, the Prime Minister also put emphasis on the regional development through increasing trade and business among the countries of this region.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani also appreciated Bangladesh’s success in reducing poverty.
