Share child marriage related info through WhatsApp group stressed

Md. Abu Jafar, DC, of Lalmonirhat district urged to join in the Whatsapp group titled “Child Marriage Prevention Committee” formed by district administration and share child marriage related information there. After he has visited various development activities of Plan International Bangladesh in Hatibandha Upazila. The DC shared this remark recently while visiting various developmental activities implemented by Plan International at Fakirpara and Barakhata Unions in Hatibandha Upazila.
The DC also said, “Plan International Bangladesh has done a lot of development activates in Hatibandha over the last 20 years, specially to stop child marriage and ensuring birth registration. The Union Parishad, the Youth Forum and the Child Welfare Board and the people of the area have a lot of responsibilities to carry out these good works. The people of the area need to be aware. You are requested to call 333 to get the service quickly and every family member should be conscious so that they do not arrange child marriage for their girls,”
Among the visited activities, the DC interacted with members of the Youth Forum, discussed with the mother of a sponsor child, and learned how they are getting benefits and financial support from the project.
The highlight of the Deputy Commissioner’s visit was the laptop handing over allocated by Plan International Bangladesh to Amina a graduate sponsor child of Plan International Bangladesh, to continue her studies at the Medical College. During his visit, the deputy commissioner handed over the laptop to Amina and assured to provide support to Amina to continue her medical studies. Earlier, the deputy commissioner had issued a check for BDT 20,000 to Amina for her admission in Medical College. In addition, the officials of Plan International Bangladesh gave BDT 36,500.00 to Amina for her admission and study in Medical College.
