Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) chief Sharad Pawar stepped down from his post on Saturday evening after its managing committee meeting, clearly hinting that the association is set to toe the line and apply the recommendations of the Lodha panel.
According to the recommendations of the panel, cricket administrators need to be under 70 and can’t serve two consecutive terms. Going into the meeting, the diktat was clear. If the MCA decided to adopt the panel’s recommendations, Pawar would step down. And that is exactly what happened.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss on how exactly the MCA can and if they will indeed implement the recommendations of the panel in toto.
Pawar had made his intentions of quitting pretty clear on Friday itself when he said that he didn’t want to go against the honourable Supreme Court or the Lodha committee.
