Shamim’s bodyguards denied bail

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) rejected a bail petition filed by Jubo League leader GK Shamim’s seven bodyguards who were shown arrested in an arms case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
Magistrate Atikul Islam of the CMM Court rejected the bail petition on Sunday after hearing in the case.
Earlier on September 26, Inspector Fazlul Haque of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police and also the Investigation Officer of the case, appealed to the court to send the accused in the jail on completion of their four days’ remand in the arms case.
Later, the court sent them in the jail and fixed September 29 for hearing on their bail in the case. The court yesterday rejected their bail petition.
 On September 20, Rapid Action Battalion-RAB arrested Jubo League leader Golam Kibria Shamim and recovered a large amount of money, arms, and drugs from Niketon in Dhaka’s Gulshan area. RAB also detained these bodyguards and seized their arms.
The next day, the court placed Shamim’s seven bodyguards on four days’ remand each and Shamim on a 10-day remand in cases filed under the Arms Act and Narcotics Control Act.
