‘Shakib Al Hasan’s punishment may be reduced if the ace all-rounder becomes repented’, said a BCB source on Thursday.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for six months from all kind of cricket competitions.
Besides, the former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team has been suspended for one and half years from all kind of international cricket tournaments like IPL, Caribbean Cricket League (CPL), County Cricket Competitions etc.
The Board of Directors of BCB took this decision in a Board meeting on July 7. The Board of Directors punished Shakib for breaching the contract agreement between BCB and Shakib Al Hasan.
Shakib Al Hasan left the country recently to take part in the CPL without permission of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Shakib was staying London without No Objection Certificate (NOC) of BCB. Later, BCB ordered Shakib Al Hasan to return Dhaka immediately. Shakib returned Dhaka but before that Shakib Al Hasan had sent an e-mail to coach Chandika Haturusinghe and acknowledged him that he would retire from Test and ODI cricket.
However, Shakib Al Hasan went to the Dhanmondi office of BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon on Wednesday last.
Papon was flexible about the punishment of Shakib and BCB boss suggested him to appeal to BCB to reduce his punishment. Shakib Al Hasan will appeal to BCB to reduce his punishment within two or three days.
Nazmul Hassan was scheduled to talk to coach Chandika Haturusinghe about Shakib’s punishment on Thursday.
