Sports Reporter :
Head Coach of West Indies team Phil Simmons said, ” Shakib Al Hasan’s absence will not give clear advantage to West Indies team in the second Test.” Bangladesh will take on West Indies in the second Test, which begins tomorrow at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur. Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out from the second Test in Dhaka due to a groin injury. Besides, Shakib could not play in the second innings of the first Test against West Indies in Chattogram. Bangladesh tasted a three-wicket defeat to the Caribbeans on February 7.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh dominated the early four days of the second Test over the islanders. After Shakib Al Hasan left the pitch, pacer Mustafizur Rahman, spinners, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan failed to resist the debutante batsmen Kyle Mayers and Nkrumah Bonner. Thus Bangladesh lost to West Indies by three wickets though Bangladesh had a 394-run lead in the second innings.
Debut Mayers struck a terrific double century (not out), while Bonner hit a superb 76.
Simmons said, ” Shakib Al Hasan is one of the top players of Bangladesh and He is also one of the best all-rounder of world cricket. Bangladesh have so many spinners and batsmen. So they will find out someone who can fulfill the absence of Shakib Al Hasan. They will chose a cricketer who will try to be replacement of Shakib Al Hasan by doing a good job. So, we cannot make the result of the second Test easier in favour of us taking the advantage of absence of Shakib.”
