Rangpur Riders captain Shakib Al Hasan has been suspended for one match of the BRB Bangladesh Premier League and fined Taka 20,000 (twenty thousand ) for two counts of BCB code of conduct breach during his team’s match against Sylhet Superstars on Thursday last at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
Shakib was reported by the on-field umpires Sharfuddowla Ibne Shahid and Tanvir Ahmed for violating Level 1 Articles 2.1.4 and 2.1.7 of the code of conduct for players and player support personnel for using abusive language after dismissing Sylhet batsman Dilshan Munaweera in the fourth over of the Sylhet innings. Match Referee Selim Shahed imposed the fine after the player pleaded guilty to the offence.
The allrounder received the suspension for breaching Level 2 Article 2.2.4 of the code of conduct for directing offensive and abusive language towards Umpire Tanvir Ahmed in the 13th over of the Sylhet innings after an appeal had been turned down. As such, he was available on the field for Rangpur’s game against Comilla Victorians today (Friday).
As the player admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by the match referee, therefore a formal hearing was not required, said a BCB press release.
