One of the top actors of the country Shakib Khan might be seen in National Film Award 2016 winning film Aynabaji’s director Amitabh Reza’s movie. The director informed that he is thinking of casting Shakib Khan in his next film. Primary talk has already been done with Shakib, he further informs. An announcement will soon come after the final talk.
If everything goes right, Shakib Khan and Amitabh Reza will work for the first time ever. Amitabh Reza has begun a film titled ‘Rickshaw Girl’. News has that Shakib Khan will be seen in that very movie; however, Amitabh didn’t confirm the news.
The film is based on Mitali Perkins’ bestselling 2007 young adult novel that was chosen by the New York Public Library as one of the 100 great children’s books of the last 100 years.
Bangladesh-born American writer Sharbari Z Ahmed, who has earned plaudits as a screenwriter for the ABC show “Quantico,” has written the screenplay of “Rickshaw Girl.” The film will jointly be produced by Amitabh’s own banner Half Stop Down along with Eric J Adams, an award-winning screenwriter, producer, and author, who wrote the script for the feature film Supremacy (2015).
“Rickshaw Girl” is a female empowerment story about Naima, a young Bangladeshi girl who tries to help her struggling family by disguising herself as a boy and operating her ailing father’s prized rickshaw for much-needed extra money. When she crashes the rickshaw, Naima uses her ingenuity and determination to find a way to repair the damage.
As a cherry on top, Amitabh is planning to incorporate animation in the poignant story. “I will explore rickshaw paintings in Dhaka and the ideas of rickshaw paintings in general. I will also incorporate some animations for fun,” he said.
