Shakib gets away with a warning for hitting stumps

The International Cricket Council (ICC) warned world famed Bangladeshi all-round cricketer Shakib Al Hasan for violating the ICC’s level-one Code of Conduct (COC) during the 9th match of the Asia Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday. Shakib received an official warning from the ICC as he was found breached Article 2.1.8 for Players and Player Support Personnel relating to “Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match,” according to ICC press release.The incident was happened in the 18th over of Bangladesh’s innings when Shakib hit the stumps with his bat in frustration after being clean bowled by Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir while attempting for a scoop.Level-1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, but Shakib was freed as he apologised to the umpires for his action immediately.On Thursday morning, Shakib admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. As such, there was no need for a formal hearing.The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, third umpire Enamul Haque and fourth official Shozab Raza.
