The Shakib Al Hasan led Bangladesh team outclassed Windies side in the Test series after beating the visitors 2-0. After winning the first match of the two-match Test series by 64 runs, the home side thrashed Windies by an innings and 184 runs in the final Test on Sunday.
It was completely a team performance by the home side where they defeated the visitors in both bowling and batting departments. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan pointed out that in the post-match presentation ceremony. “I and the coaching staff asked exactly this of the team and this was our plan. We did the process right and we did well in every department. I can’t ask more offthe team. I was demanding in the two Tests, and everyone stepped up,” he said.
Bangladesh spinners were brilliant through the series, especially in the second Test. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz alone picked up 12 wickets in this Test while Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam grabbed 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively.
Shakib added on the same, “Overall a very good team effort. We saved runs in the field, that put a lot of pressure. And every time the batsmen got in, they made it count. All four spinners were great, especially Miraz, the way he bowled today was fantastic.”
Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh posted a huge total of 508 runs in the first innings, thanks to Mahmudullah Riyad’s brilliant century. Debutant Shadman Islam also played a fine knock of 79 runs. Apart from them, Litton Das and skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s half-centuries helped the home side to post 508 runs in the scoreboard.
Meanwhile, Shakib praised the debutant Shadman and Nayeem who made his debut in the first Test. Although could not get a wicket in the second Test, his bowling was economical. “Nayeem bowled really well in both Tests, even though the wickets column doesn’t show it. Shadman showed good temperament and showed that he can do well in the international arena,” he concluded.
