Ace cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, shooter Arnab Sarar Ladif and footballer Jafar Iqbal are in the Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA’s) shortlist of the best sportsman-2017, said BSPA press release.
As per the BSPA jury board’s decision, one of them will be selected. This year, BSPA give prize in 14 categories considering their performance in 2017.
It was disclosed at a BSPA’s press conference held on Monday at National Sports Council auditorium in the city.
BSPA president Mostafa Mamun, its general secretary Rejwanuzzaman Rajib, organising committee’s chairman Hasan Ullah Khan Rana, Jury Board Chairman Talha Bin Nazrul, Marketing Manager of Square Toiletries Limited Fajal Mahmud Rony were present in the press conference.
The BSPA incepted sports personality of grassroots award for the first time which will be given to Mofizul Haque (football coach), the architect of football revolution of Kolosindur team.
Besides, four athletes were nominated for popular choice award. They are Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, (cricket), Shakib Al Hasan (cricket), Mahmudullah (cricket) and Zafar Iqbal (football).
The sports lovers will select one of them in this category exercising their voting right through online.
The prizes will be handed over to the nominated through a fabulous ceremony on January 6 next.
