Premier Division Cricket League: Shafiul Islam secures Agrani’s win

Agrani Bank Cricket Club managed an exciting three-wicket victory over Brothers Union Club in the ninth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) held on Monday.
Asked to bat first by Agrani Bank, Brothers Union Club, rode on their opener Mizanur Rahman’s polish 102-run, scored a challenging total of 289 for 6 from their stipulated 50 overs at Khan Shaheb Oslman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
The right handed 26-year batsman Mizanur hit nine boundaries and three over boundaries during his 120-ball stay on the crease and he shared a huge 200-run opening stand with Junaid Siddique who composed 92-run off 103-ball before fell victim of nervous 90.
Despite a perfect start by the two Brothers’ openers, the remaining batsmen of the team failed to capitalize the opportunity as they able to added only 89 runs in the scoreboard from the last 14.1 overs.
Pacer Shafiul Islam was the most successful bowler as he hauled four Brothers Union’s wickets giving away 48 runs.
In reply, Agrani Bank reached home making 292 for the loss of seven wickets with five balls to spare courtesy of four half centuries by Rishi Dhawan (70), Azmir Ahmed (65), Salman Hossain (63) and Jahid Javed (55).
Sohrawordi Shuvo was the pick of Brothers Union bowlers as he claimed three Agrani Bank’s wickets for 62 runs. He was well supported by Khaled Ahmed who took two wickets conceding 52 runs.
Shafiul Islam of Agrani Bank was named the player of the match for his magnificent bowling performance.
