Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Farzana Islam has said that she is ‘grateful’ to the member of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)’ for freeing her from the protesting students who took position in front of her residence from Monday evening.
Addressing a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Farzana Islam termed the
student protest as a ‘revolt’ that led to the indefinite shutdown of the university.
“The protesters have been creating various obstacles for the last three months. It’s time we need to think about who want to lead the university to destruction and how they want to do it,” she said.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the allegations of graft against her are untrue, meant to humiliate and harass her. “I will accept whatever punishment given to me if the allegations are proven.”
She added, “I am grateful to my colleagues, students and especially the BCL men that they have taken the responsibility to restore normalcy on the campus.”
