Sports Reporter :Shabash Tigers, roared crowds from the entire stadium as Pakistan lost the 2nd game of the 3-match ODI series to Bangladesh on Sunday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Statium in Mirpur amid the cheers of thousands of cricket fans witnessing the game. A superb 118-run third-wicket partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim powered the Tigers to achieve a massive seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second ODI. The third ODI will be held at the same venue on April 22.Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal led his team from the frontline making an unbeaten run-a-ball 116 with 17 fours and a sixer. It was Tamim Iqbal’s back-to-back century. Tamim touched his sixth ODI hundred-run landmark playing 108 balls. Tamim Iqbal was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.Mushfiqur Rahim notched up a brilliant 65 from 70 balls featuring eight fours and a sixer before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught at the point by Fawad Alam off Rahat Ali when Bangladesh’s score was 218 for the loss of three wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim reached his 22nd ODI half century using 57 balls.Electing to bat first, Pakistan scored 239 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 50 overs.In reply, Bangladesh sailed home making 240 for the loss of three wickets when they had 71 balls to spare.Bangladesh made a disastrous start as the hosts lost their opener Soumya Sarkar (17). Sarkar was caught behind by Sarfraz Ahmed off Junaid Khan when Bangladesh’s score was 22 for the loss of one wicket.Then opener Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad salvaged their team from early danger contributing together 78 runs in the second wicket stand before Riyad (17) was cleanly bowled out by Saeed Ajmal when Bangladesh’s total was exact 100 for the loss of two wickets. Later, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim played the key role to anchor in the harbour of victory.Saeed Ajmal, Rahat Ali and Junaid Khan took one wicket each.Pakistan faced a debacle as the tourists lost their early five wickets for 77 runs.Then Haris Sohail and Saad Nasim repaired the damage adding together 77 runs for the sixth wicket stand before Haris Sohail was caught & bowled by pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when Pakistan’s score was 154 for the loss of six wickets.After dismissal of Haris Sohail, Saad Nasim and Wahab Riaz helped their side to score a unassuming total. Saad Nasim and Wahab Riaz put on together 85 runs in the unbroken seventh wicket stand. Saad Nasim remained unbeaten with 77. His 96-ball knock was decorated with six fours and a six.Wahab Riaz hit an unbeaten 51 from 40 balls featuring five fours and two sixes. Haris Soahail made a polished 44 off 61 balls while Azhar Ali knocked a notable 36 from 60 balls including five fours.Bangladesh bowlers performed a tight and controlled bowling attack and restricted the visitors to a submissive total.Rubel Hossain gave his team early breakthrough as opener Sarfraz Ahmed was caught at the slip by Soumya Sarkar for seven when the tourists total was 31 for the loss of one wicket.After dismissal of Sarfraz, Mohammad Hafeez was cleanly bowled out by Arafat Sunny for a duck when Pakistan’s score was 37 for the loss of two wickets.Then Azhar Ali was caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim off Shakib Al Hasan when the tourists total was 58 for the loss of three wickets. Fawad Alam was cleanly bowled out by Nasir Hossain for naught when Pakistan’s score was 59 for the loss of four wickets.Then Mohammad Rizwan (13) was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when Pakistan’s score was 77 for the loss of five wickets.Shakib Al Hasan bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 51 runs while Nasir Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Arafat Sunny and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took one wicket apiece.
