Women and human rights activists on Wednesday forming human chain, holding solidarity rally and handing over memorandum protested sexual assault against women on Bengali New Year festival and demanded exemplary punishment against the assaulters.
The programme organised by Barisal alliance of social protest movement for preventing torture against women and held in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall at 11:15 am on Wednesday.
It was participated by more than thirty voluntary, developments, socio-political, human and women rights activists including Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, Girl Guides Association, and NGO alliances.
Rabeya Khatun, district president of Mohila Parishad, presided over the programmed.
Among others Begum Faizun Nahar, regional commissioner Bangladesh Girl Guides Association, Nigar Sultana Hanufa, women rights activist, Sharmin Jahan Popy, district president Bangladesh Chhatra Union Rahima Sultana Kajal, Anwar Zahid, NGO organisers, Akkas Hossain, Narayan Saha, cultural activists, Hiron Kumar Das Mithu of Ganoforum, Shuvangkar Chakraborty of Khelaghar.
