Sexagenarian man found dead

A sexagenarian man, who was reportedly abducted after an attack on him at Urkirchar in Raozan upazila on Saturday, was found dead in Hathazari upazila on Sunday.
Police recovered the body of Nurul Alam, 60, son of Sultan Ahmed of Harpara village in Raozan upazila, from Shikarpur at noon.
Quoting witnesses, victim’s wife Nur Banu claimed that Nurul Alam, who owned a truck, went to Urkirchar Bazar on Saturday morning when some miscreants swooped on him with sharp weapons and picked him up in an auto-rickshaw.
His two mobile phones were also found switched off, she said, adding that although she went to the local police station for filing a complaint, police did not record it.
Around 12 noon today, his body was found at Shikarpur, Nur Banu said.
He had an enmity with a local Awami League leader over truck parking, she said, adding that miscreants attacked their house and looted Tk 2 lakh and 10 tolas of gold ornaments during last Ramadan.
Meanwhile, Urkirchar union parishad member Muhammad Selim said police arrested Nurul Alam for stabbing union Jubo League vice-president Muhammad Abu and he was released from jail two months ago.
