Sewing handloom garments turning rural women self-reliant

The rural women are becoming self-reliant through various income generation activities, including sewing of handloom garments, to contribute their own in building a middle income Bangladesh.
Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges Nazmul Haque Pradhan MP said this while distributing sewing machines at Hafizabad Union Samaj Kallyan Federation Office premises under Sadar upazila in Panchagarh today as chief guest.
Hafizabad Union Samaj Kallyan Federation distributed the sewing machines among 15 extremely poor women after providing them with six month training on sewing with the assistance of Bangladesh NGO Foundation to make them self-reliant.
The sewing machines were distributed among the fifteen trained unemployed women of different village under Hafizabad union to assist them in achieving self-reliance through income generation activities.
Chairman of Hafizabad Union Samaj Kallyan Federation Abed Ali presided over the ceremony participated by the sewing machine recipient beneficiary women of the ‘Employment Generation Project for the Rural Women through Training on Sewing.’
Panchagarh Sadar upazila chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat, its Vice-chairman Kamrun Nahar Shahin, General Secretary of Panchagarh district Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Abdus Sattar and local union chairman Shahadat Hossain addressed as special guests.
