Severe cold hits normal life

The temperature was normal but the people felt severe cold due to dense fog and cold wind across the country, weather office sources said. The temperature may improve today, says the office.
Meanwhile, hospitals were crowded with patients suffering from respiratory problems, pneumonia and cough.
The cold wave swept mainly impoverished rural areas where most people could not afford warm clothing or heating, sources said. The people of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions felt tremendous cold on Wednesday. The ferry service between Paturia and Daulatdia remained suspended for six hours on Wednesday.
Traffic gridlock was found at all the ferry terminals across the country. Vehicles movement was hampered.
The Weather Office said in Dhaka, the highest temperature was 17.07 degree Celsius and the lowest 14 degree Celsius; in Chittagong, the highest temperature was 22.06 degree Celsius and the lowest 14.03 degree Celsius; in Rangpur, the highest temperature was 14.07 degree Celsius and the lowest 12.04 degree Celsius; in Rajshahi, the highest temperature was 20.04 degree Celsius and the lowest 12.04 degree Celsius; in Khulna, the highest temperature was 18.02 degree Celsius and the lowest 12.05 degree Celsius and in Barisal the highest temperature was 19.02 degree Celsius and the lowest 12.05 degree Celsius.
The Weather Office said when the temperature is above 10 degree Celsius, it is normal. But when it is below 10, people will feel cold tremendously.
