Seven killed in road accidents

Road crashes claimed seven lives at different places across the country on Friday. Besides, 35 more people were injured in the incidents.
Savar, Dhaka: Two motorcyclists were killed as a bus rammed their motorbike at Amin Bazar truck stand area on Dhaka-Aricha highway on Friday morning.
The deceased were known as Shafikul Islam and Sujat Mia, hailed from Pabna, according to police.
They were returning Pabna from Dhaka after business related activities, police said.
Police seized the bus but its driver and his associate fled away.
Mohsinul Quadir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station, confirmed the news.
Meanwhile a truck driver was killed and two others were injured as the truck plunged into a road ditch after the driver lost its control over steering at Joypura of Dhamrai in the morning.
Two people were killed and 14 others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered-van at Haripukur of 29-mile area on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway of the district in the morning.
The deceased were known as Sazzad, 50, covered-van driver and son of Hamidur Rahman of the capital’s Mirpur and bus passenger Moshiur Rahman, 35.
According to witnesses, a Panchagarh-bound Nabil Express bus from Dhaka collided head-on a covered-van of Kazi Farm Ltd at Haripukur area, leaving the two killed on the spot.
Jinnat Parvin, physician of Emergency Department of Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital, said, “Of the injured, three were referred to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital as they were in critical conditions. The other injured were released after giving them first aids.

An elderly man was killed and 17 others were injured as a bus hit another while overtaking at Daulatpur area of Daudkandi on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla.
Abul Kalam Azad, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daudkandi Highway Police Station, said a Dream Line Paribahan bus fell into a roadside ditch at Daulatpur after a Dhaka-bound Star Line Paribahan bus from Noakhali hit it while overtaking, leaving the person killed under the bus in the ditch.
The injured were admitted to local Gauripur Government Hospital, he added.
The two buses and the body were taken to local Eliotganj Highway Police Outpost, the OC said.
One was killed and three others were injured as a bus rammed a motorcycle at Bamiar intersection area in Koira upazila around 11:00am.
The deceased was known as Helal Uddin, 20, son of Kader Dhali of Koira village.
According to locals and police, a passenger bus rammed Helal’s motorbike while he was heading towards Koira sadar, leaving him dead on the spot and his ride-share Rokon Dhali seriously injured.
Two bus passengers were also injured in the incident. They were known as Ashalota, 60, and Hannan Biswas, 32, hailed from Dumurpota village under Satkhira’s Ashashuni upazila. They were admitted to Koira Upazila Health Complex. Of the injured, one was released after giving him first aid.
