Seven injured in land dispute

Seven people, including men and women, were seriously injured in a land dispute in Hossainpur of Kishoreganj and were admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. On Wednesday morning, after cutting down a tree in the disputed area and injuring seven people, the police called 999 and rescued seven injured people and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex. The injured are Rahim Box’s son Rustam Ali (60), Rustam Ali’s wife Karfula Begum (55), son Akram Hossain (25), daughter Harisha Akhter (35), Rekha Akhter (23), Rabia Akhter (19) and Taufiqul Mia (30).
All of them are residents of Madhya Gobindpur village in Gobindapur union of the upazila. In this situation, the family is living in a state of panic without any remedy even after visiting the chairman-members of the area due to lack of security.
 It is learned that there was a dispute between Abdul Hekim of Gobindpur village in the middle of Gobindpur union and Rustam Ali of that village over land. Due to this, Hakim and his people cut down the native mango, jackfruit and banana trees of Rustam Ali’s occupied area. As Rustam Ali protested, Hekim and his men attacked them on Wednesday with pre-planned domestic weapons and Chinese axes, seriously injuring Rustam Ali and his wife, son and pregnant daughter. Rutam Ali’s son Tawfiq said that when they went home, the people of Hekim were threatening to kill everyone.
 Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hossainpur Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman said the process of filing a case is underway. He assured to take legal action after investigating the matter.
