Bus plunge tragedy: Seven Benapole school children laid to rest

The seven schoolchildren who died in a bus plunge on Saturday were laid to rest at their respective villages in Benapole of Jessore on Sunday afternoon.
Hundreds of people including local political leaders attended the namaz-e-janaza of the students of Benapole Primary School at Ball Field around 2:00pm, source said.
Of the deceased, Suraiya, 11, Jebia Akter, 8, Mithila, 11, Runa, 10, and Shanto, 11, are from Chooto Anchra, Sabbir, 10 of Gazipur village and Akhi, 11, of Namajgram in Benapole. Suraiya and Jebia are daughters of one Syed Ahmed.
The children drowned when the bus carrying them plunged into a pond in Chougacha upazila last night.
The tragedy occurred at Jhautola on Moheshpur Road around 8:00pm when around 60 students–aged between six and 13 — were returning from a picnic at Mujibnagar in Meherpur.
Expressing deep shock at the death of the schoolchildren, Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman announced that doa will be offered Monday at every primary schools across the country seeking salvation of the departed souls.
An official order will be issued from the ministry today in this regard, the minister said while addressing a press briefing at his ministry.
All the schools and business establishments in Sharsha upazila were closed today to express shock to the students. Beanpole municipality has started three-day mourning from Sunday.
