SEU organizes workshop on technology in ESL

Department of English at Southeast University (SEU) organized a workshop on “Use of Technology in ESL Classroom” on Saturday at its Seminar Hall. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the American Center, US Embassy, Dhaka and Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA).
Vice Chancellor of SEU Prof Anwar Hossain inaugurated the workshop. Associate Professor and the Chair of the Department of English Harunur Rashid Khan delivered welcome address at the inaugural session.
Cultural Affairs Officer of American Embassy, Dhaka George Mesthos also delivered opening remarks at the session. Among others, Registrar of SEU Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, SPP, psc (Retd), Chief Coordinator of BOT, SEU Trust Wing Commander AHM Mostafa Morshed (Retd) and Faculty Members of the Department of English were present at the session.
Mentioning technological advancement as an important part of present changing world, speakers said, ‘we needed to cope up with this situation for upgrading our educational system’.
This workshop would be helpful for SEU to initiate technological development in teaching English, they added.
Russell Barczyk, Regional English Language Officer (RELO) at the US Embassy in Kathmandu conducted the workshop through a Power Point presentation. Dean (Acting), School of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof Dr Md. Abdul Hakim distributed certificates among participants.
