A seminar and national conference on “Education, Research, and Job Opportunities for Zoologists in Bangladesh: Problems and Prospects” was held at the Dhaka University Senate Bhaban on Saturday. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid attended the function as the chief guest while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique and Public Service Commission Chairman Ikram Ahmed addressed it as the special guests.Teacher of Chittagong University Zoology Department Professor Shafiq Haider Chowdhury presented the keynote on the occasion.”Traditional education system can not bring national progress. So, research, teaching method and syllabus should be modernized” Nahid said.He stressed the need for acquiring efficiency in all branches of science, time-befitting education, world class research, modern technology and enhancement of standard of education.The minister urged the students and teachers of the Zoology department to conduct research work to protect biodiversity.
