A PhD seminar titled ‘Role of Labor Courts in Enforcing Workers’ Rights in Bangladesh’ was held at Islamic University (IU), Kushtia on Sunday.
PhD fellow M Amjad Hossain, Assistant Professor of Al-Fiqh and Legal Studies Department of the university explained his article under the supervision of IU Law Department Prof Dr Khandaker Touhidul Anam.
The seminar was held at the Law faculty conference room of the university while IU Treasurer Prof Dr M Selim Toha was present as chief guest with Law department chairman Prof Dr Nurun Nahar in the chair.
Law faculty dean Prof Dr Reba Mandal was present here as special guest while Prof Dr M Johurul Islam and Associate Prof Dr M Abdul Karim Khan spoke as the discussant. The PhD researcher has given explanation on the causes of workers right violence and major findings of the study including-formation of the labor court, functions and jurisdiction of the labor courts, power of Bangladesh labor court, justice of workers, trade union rights violations, political and labor unrest.
Among others Al-Fiqh and Legal Studies department chairman Associate Prof Mohammad Anowarul Wahab, Prof Dr M Shahjahan Mondol, Pro Dr Halima Khatun, Prof Dr Mist Sayeda Siddika, Prof Dr M Lutfor Rahman and Assistant Prof Altaf Hossain were took part here.
