Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on Tuesday organised a seminar titled ‘Implementation of Classification Society (IACS) rules in Ship Construction in Bangladesh: Importance and Challenges’ at its auditorium, at Mirpur Cantonment.
Additional Secretary of Ministry of Shipping, M Abdul Mannan was present as the Chief Guest while Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority also known as (BIWTA), Commodore Mohammad Mozammel Haque and Director General of Shipping Department, Commodore Syed Ariful Islam were present.
Several professionals and representatives from different Dockyards, Shipyards and other organizations related to the Shipbuilding field attended the seminar and delivered their valuable speech on the implementation of Classification Society rules in this sector, said a press release.
Chairman of Ananda Shipyards and Slipways Ltd., Dr. Abdullahel Bari delivered a keynote speech titled ‘Implementation of IACS rules in Ship Construction in Bangladesh: Importance & Challenges’ and another keynote speech titled ‘Implementation of IACS rules for Inland Waterway Vessels: Its Prospects and Challenges’ was delivered by the Chief Surveyor of Lloyd’s Register of Shipping in Bangladesh Obaid Bashir.
The seminar was organised aimed at discussing the developments achieved in the sector and to bring Bangladesh one step ahead towards becoming a Shipbuilding nation in future.
