As part of the annual sea rehearsal exercise safe guard-2016 of Bangladesh Navy (BN), a seminar on sea awareness was held recently at Titumir Fairway Hall, a watch-post of Khulna Navy in Khulna.
Dean of Maritime Governance and Policy Faculty of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University Commodore Md. Ziauddin Alamgir adressed the seminar as chief guest while Captain M Zaheer Uddin moderated it.
Professor of Fisheries and Marine Resource Technology Discipline of Khulna University Md. Abdur Rouf, Managing Director of the Bengal Tour Ltd. Md.Masud Hossain, Staff Officer of Mongla Coast Guard Lt. Commandar M Rahatuzzaman, Divisional Forest Officer of East Forest Md. Sayedul Islam and chief security officer of Mongla Port Commander M Habibul Mowla spoke as special guests.
Speakers in the seminar stressed the need for expansion of national and international trade through sea route, using of mineral resources for fuel security, appropriate management of fish resources, protection to environment and bio-diversity and finding out of ways to face challenges of the security of sea resources.
They called for using the resources properly to ensure sustainable development of all maritime organizations. They underscored the need for formulating an action plan endowed with development of blue economy.
High officials of civil, naval and different maritime organisations, among others, attended the seminar.
