Seminar on renewable energy begins at DU

A three-day national seminar and exhibition on “Renewable Energy to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals: Bangladesh Perspectives” began at Dhaka University (DU) Mukarram Hossain Khandker Science Building on Wednesday.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid joined the inaugural session of the seminar as the chief guest with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair.
DU Institute of Energy and Bangladesh Solar Energy Society is jointly organising the seminar.
Nasrul Hamid said the country’s 10 per cent demand of power will met from renewable energy by 2020 as the government is working to make a master plan to modernise the renewable energy sector.
He stressed the need for stopping commercialisation of renewable energy sector to make it sustainable and popular.
