A PhD seminar on ‘Literatures in Ethnic Groups of Bangladesh: A Sociolinguistic Study’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Wednesday.
English Department of the university arranged the event at the second floor of Rabindra-Nazrul academic building on the campus around 11:00am. Arts Faculty Dean of the university Professor Dr Sarawr Murshed was present at the seminar as the chief guest while Professor Dr M Shahadat Hossain Azad of the English Department spoke as the chief discussant with English Department Chairperson Professor Dr Mossammad Salma Sultana in the chair. PhD fellow M Zahidul Islam of the department presented his research papers under the supervision of Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman of the same department conducted by its Assistant Professor Prakash Chandra Biswas. Languages, cultures, literatures, rituals, totems, taboos and other social activities of the ethnic groups were discussed in his papers.
