Department of Law, Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized a seminar on “human rights in the age of imperialism” at the BUP Campus on Tuesday. Law Minister Anisul Haq was the chief guest at the seminar while BUP Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO was the special guest.
Prof Dr Salimullah Khan, General Education Department and Director, Centre for Advanced Theory, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh was present as keynote speaker. Dean, Faculty of Security and Strategic Studies of BUP, Brigadier General Arif Maula, ndc, afwc, psc conducted the seminar as moderator.
Also present there were BUP Registrar, Treasure, Deans of Different Faculties, Controller of Examination, Heads of the Departments, Faculty Members, Officers and invited guests from different institutions.
The Law Minister in the seminar said, imperialism is a serious risk for promotion and protection of human rights. Key actors of international politics most often break the rules, and agreements are made only aiming at their national interests. The world thus has become inhospitable for the practice of human rights, the minister said. Anisul Haq added that, imperialism is now a major concern for human rights, which is most influential in international relations. Key states are enforcing their foreign policies with nationalistic agenda under the banner of human rights.
