Md Mafijul Islam Bhuiyan and Dr SNM Azizul Hoque were the joint speaker of a seminar held on Thursday organised and hosted at Eastern University, Bangladesh.
In the talk, Bhuiyan shared his works and experiences during his stay at MDA satellite corporation located at Richmond in British Columbia, Canada. The both speaker described the recently completed project funded byICT innovation fund, ICT Division, Bangladesh Government.
Bhuiyan described how they monitor and predict flood in Sylhet region during the year 2017. Dr Hoque described the deforestation due to 7 lak Rohingya refuges in the last one year located in Chittagong Division. The work was recently submitted to Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. Both speaker described the potential future projects using the satellite imageries.
Mr. Bhuiyan also described about mi2labs, research and development company for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Vision, Image processing, and Internet of things (IOT) located both in Canada and Bangladesh. Both the speakers are the writer of the textbook of Higher Secondary level ‘Information and Communication Technology’ book where Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Prof Dr Aminul Haque is the editor of the book.
Md Mafijul Islam Bhuiyan is the CEO of mi2labs worked as a research analyst in MDA satellite corporation for one year where he processed and analyzed satellite images collected from RADARSAT-2 satellite.
Dr SNM Azizul Hoque is Assistant Professor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Dr Hoque completed the PhD in Space Physics from the University of Alberta, Canada. Mafijul Islam Bhuiyan is going to defend his PhD in September from the same University.
