But unfortunately, the truth is that we have not been able to build such a world yet. In this world, women are still the victims of violence. Everyone must come forward to stop this violence. She also said that there are many cases of male abuse in the society. We see often that men are also abused, but it is less than women. The practice of unequal power is responsible for abuse. Society creates these unequal powers through its laws, customs etc.
Addressing among the students, she said the young generation should take responsibility for building a human society that is livable for all. If they are aware, they can make the people around them aware. Today’s young students are very aware. She hoped that a world of equality free from violence against women would be built through their hands.
SP Mahfuza Liza presented a keynote paper on cybercrime in the program. She said, cybercrime has increased more than ever before. And the biggest victims of this cybercrime are women. Every day women are being subjected to various forms of violence in the virtual world. She gave various advices to the students to get rid of this danger.Mahfuza Liza also said that women are now being subjected to much more violence through social media. Their Facebook profiles are being hacked, photos are being photo shopped, and blackmailing is taking place and so on. Awareness is the only way to get rid of these. Police Super Mahfuza Liza also advised to keep the privacy setting strong, not to accept strangers as friends, not to click on unfamiliar links or pictures and not to talk to strangers on messenger. She added that there is a police unit to prevent cybercrime. There are also special units to assist women. She said that any woman victim can seek help from these units at any time.
District Judge ShamimaAfroze said, ‘while we are conducting this seminar, some of women are being tortured somewhere in the world. In other words, there is no place for violence against women, there is no particular time. They are being persecuted all over the world. The only way to change this situation is to change the society.
‘Everything cannot be changed by law all the time,’she said. Some changes have to come from inner of the society. Violence against women is one such issue. The change in attitude towards women has to come first from the family. Then the society, then the state will change.
