Seminar on BD Parliamentary Democracy in UK Thursday

A seminar titled ‘Parliamentary Democracy in Bangladesh: Challenging Radicalism and the way forward’ will be held at the House of Lords in London on Thursday.
The European Bangladesh Forum (EBF), a network of the European Bengali diaspora, is going to organise the conference to foster and promote secular rule in Bangladesh ahead of the next general electioin.
The seminar will demand that Bangladesh remains a secular democratic entity, said an EBF press release on Tuesday.
The London conference will bring together secular politicians, policymakers, journalists and activists to create strong public opinions in favour of secular forces and against Islamist extremist groups.
The organisers of the conference hope that it will also encourage European and global stakeholders in addressing a serious issue in the interest of democracy everywhere.
The programme will be held at the Committee Room-1 of the House of Lords at 3pm-4:30pm where Lord Paul Bew will Chair.
Syed Badrul Ahsan, Editor-in-Charge of The Asian Age; Dr Siegfried Wolf, German political scientist and researcher with South Asia Institute of Universitat Heidelberg, Germany; Dr David Lewis of London School of Economics; and Roberta Bonazzi, founder President of the European Foundation for Democracy who works with Counter Extremism Project (CEP), will attend the programme as keynote speakers.
