Holy Ramzan: Seek salvation

Abdul Muqit Chowdhury :
Maghfirat (forgiveness), the second phase of the Holy Ramzan ends today, the 20th. From tonight onward till the night preceding Holy Eid-ul-Fitr is the third phase of Nazat (salvation).
The Holy Quran reveals : “Be ye foremost (in seeking)/ Forgiveness from your Lord;/And a
Garden (of Bliss),/The width whereof is/As the width of/Heaven and earth,/Prepared for those who believe/In God and His apostles:/That is the Grace of God,/Which He bestows on whom/He pleases: and God is/The Lord of Grace abounding.” (Sura Hadid 57:21, The Holy Quran :Translation and Commentary by A. Yusuf Ali)
Allama Yusuf Ali on “bestows on whom He pleases’ comments : “That is such grace and favour is beyond anyone’s own merits. It is bestowed by God according to His Holy Will and Plan, which is just, merciful and righteous”.
“Itikaf’ is a special worship in this period. It has a significant dimension to search the night of Qadr in the uneven nights of the departing time of Rarmzan.
Itikaf is Sunnat-e-Muakkda Kifaya. Kifaya implies that observance of ltikaf by some Rozadars (minimum one) on behalf of the musallies of the concerned locality will do.
Itikaf means ‘confining’ or ‘staying’ in confinement in the mosque and observing virtuous deeds, as ordained, to attain nearness of Allah. However, women may observe Itikaf even at home, but must be in solitary condition.
Itikaf has the injunction to be aloof from enjoyments of family life and worldly affairs. Observance of Itikaf may be for 10 days, or 7 days or 3 days or 1 day minimum.
The Holy Quran says : ” ….. But do not associate with your wives while ye are in retreat in the mosque. Those are limits (set by) God : Approach not nigh thereto./Thus doth God make clear/ His signs to men : that/ They may learn self-restraint.” (Sura Baqara 2: 187, Do)
Here in the explanation of ‘retreat’ Allama Yusuf Ali comments:
“Retreat to the Mosques by night after the fast is broken is specially recommended towards the end of Ramzan, so that all carnal temptations may be avoided.”
Hazrat Ayesha (Ra) narrated : ” Rasulullah (SM) used to dedicate himself some days at a stretch to Allah’s Ibadat (Itikaf) in the solitary environment of the cave of Hera without the attachment of family members.” (Bukhari Sharif)
Meditating in solitary confinement aiming nearness of Allah and praying for salvation in the Hereafter may please Allah Rabbul Aalameen for rewarding Rozadars.
