Security beefed up ahead of X’mas

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that a four-tyre security steps have been taken ahead of Christmas and the upcoming new-year festivity across the country.
Special security measures have been taken at all Churches, including Tejgaon Church in the capital and its adjacent areas where the people of Christian community reside.
The Minister disclosed this to the reporters after a meeting on law and order on the Christmas Day and 31st night at his Secretariate office on Sunday afternoon.
The Minister said that law enforcers will remain
alert about the security to ensure safety to the people in diplomatic zone and universities’ areas. Besides, vehicle movement will be restricted at Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi and Farmgate areas.
State Minister for Social Welfare Promod Mankin, Home Secretary Dr M Mozammel Haque Khan, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandker and Additional Secretary Dr Kamaluddin Ahmed were present in the meeting presided over by the State Minister for Home Affairs.
High officials of Rapid Action Battalion and Fire Service and other law enforcing agencies were also present at the meeting.
