Security beefed up ahead of Durga Puja in dists

Kishoreganj District police charted out a plan for intensified special security during the Durga Puja in the district.

Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled was addressing at the Hindu Community Leader held at local police lines on Saturday noon. Additional Police Super Nazmul Islam, Shafiqul Islam, Masud Anwar, Senior ASP Anirban Chowdhury, Hindu KalYan Trusty Advocate Dolon Bhowmik, District Puja Udjapon Parished President & GP Bijoy Shankar Roy, Trusti Lipu Roy and Kishoreganj Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Shama Md. Iqbal Hayat.
At least 405 puja mondops would be brought under the security blanket of Police, RAB, Ansewr, Armed Police, DB and other intelligence agencies will stay inside the procession in plain clothes to fend off any trouble. CCTV surveillance systems will be installed in important Puja Mandop as a part of the security measures. The law enforcers will also remain alert to detect eve teasers.
SP noted that devotees will have to enter the puja mandops though archway and their bodies will be searched. No bags, sharp weapons and flammable substances will be allowed to carry while entering mandaps. Use of fireworks and crackers has already been prohibited.
Police Super Khaled also urged the Puja arrangement committee leaders to install close circuit cameras and metal detectors in the mandaps.
To avoid any unwanted incidents, Administration will deploy Additional Police, RAB forces on this day.
BSS from Khulna reports: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) has taken three-tier security arrangement to ensure peaceful celebration of upcoming Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
The decision was taken in a meeting on Thursday at the KMP headquarters chaired by its commissioner Humayun Kabir.
He said, “The foolproof security will be given from a day before Durga puja starts, which will continue until immersion of idols.”
“KMP has taken also 13-point decision to ensure peaceful celebration of the Durga Puja,” the KMP Commissioner said, adding that it will also set up a control room to monitor the situation during the Puja.
The decision includes to deploy 10 members of law enforcing agencies to every important Puja mandap while eight members to deploy a general Puja mandap, to set up CC cameras at different strategic points to monitor the security measures by respective Puja Management Committee, to refrain from mike sound during prayers, wearing caps and badges for volunteers and keeping
phone numbers of local Police and Fire Service Stations.
Humayun Kabir claimed that the overall law and order in the city improved in the last one year as the rate of criminal acts came down during the period.
The KMP will deploy over 2,000 police personnel at 123 Puja mandaps in the city and will set up 16 check posts at different strategic points in the metropolis aiming to ensure foolproof security during the festival.
Besides, the intelligence agencies are directed to intensify their round the clock vigilance in and around the city.
Additional Police Commissioner Rokibul Islam, Deputy Police Commissioners Fazlur Rahman, Molla Zahangir Hossain, Ehsan Shah, BM Nuruzzaman and Saiful Haque were present, among others.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Law enforcement agencies are going to take a foolproof security measure for ensuring smooth celebration of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community, everywhere in Rajshahi division.
Police high-ups revealed this while holding a view-sharing meeting with leaders of Puja Udjapan Parishad (PUP) at conference hall of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rajshahi Police here on Monday.
The meeting discussed and devised ways and means to ensure a peaceful law and order situation during the Puja.
Chaired by DIG Khurshid Hussain, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional DIG Nisharul Arif and Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan and Superintendents of Police Abdus Salam and Belayet Hossain, PUP members Alok Kumar Das, Advocate Sharat Chandra Sarker, Anil Kumar, Dr Sujit Kumar Sarker and Shamayal Kumar.
The meeting was told that the puja, which will start on October 14 and continue on October 19, will be celebrated at 3,438 mondaps in all eight districts under the division.
Hussain said law enforcers will take adequate security measures so that devotees can perform and celebrate Puja.
He urged the Hindu community leaders to set up close circuit cameras in the Puja mondaps and arrange separate incoming and outgoing ways for male and female devotees.
He also asked the officers-in-charge of the concerned police stations to keep close contact with the puja Udjapan committees round the clock.
The police official also urged the traffic division to ensure improved traffic management during the festival.
